Dunban is the fourth permanent party member in Xenoblade Chronicles, but during the prologue and Battle of Colony 9 he appears as a guest. During this time, he wields the Monado and cannot access his typical arts, unless played in New Game Plus.

Monado Enchant Monado Art Allows normal weapons to damage Mechon.
Monado Buster Monado Art Deals damage in a cone; does triple damage to Mechon.

In Definitive Edition, Dunban has his own tension icon during the battle of Sword Valley. In the Wii and New 3DS versions, his regular icons are used instead.
