Zohar Emulator
The Zohar Emulators are replica Zohars in the Xenosaga series. Twelve of them were made by Joachim Mizrahi. In appearance, they are almost identical to the Original except where its glowing turquoise gem would be, a Hebrew letter sits. Another, albeit notably more unstable, Emulator was created by Sellers. Sellers' Emulator is metallic silver and has a flashing blue logo representing the Galaxy Federation's military in place of the jewel.
Story[edit]
History[edit]
Joachim Mizrahi originally developed the Zohar Emulators on Miltia to act as an ignition "key" for the operation of the Original Zohar. However, after the Miltian Conflict in T.C. 4753, they went missing. Over time, the U-TIC Organization made use of the ones in their possession to perform Link Experiments on several different planets. Eventually, the Kukai Foundation acquired 11 of the missing Emulators. The last remaining one was once again used for a Link Experiment in T.C. 4765, overseen by Commander Andrew Cherenkov on the planet Ariadne. The experiment failed, resulting in a localized Space-Time Anomaly that caused the entire planet to disappear and gnosify. This prompted a joint mission between the Galaxy Federation's 117th Marine Division and Vector Industries to investigate the disappearance. Several U-TIC operatives, including Cherenkov, were hidden amongst the crew of the fleet to retrieve the Emulator.
Episode I[edit]
The intro to Episode I portrays the Woglinde crew's retrieval of the Emulator left behind by Ariadne's disappearance; an operation once again overseen by Cherenkov. Said retrieval results in casualties (several men vanish upon making physical contact with the Emulator), alerting the Gnosis to the Emulator's location. When the Gnosis attack the Woglinde soon after, they manage to take the Emulator from the hangar before destroying the ship. Later, the Emulator is found inside the Cathedral Ship, a massive planet-sized Gnosis made up of the remains of Ariadne. After the Cathedral Ship and all of the surrounding Gnosis are extinguished, the Durandal manages to retrieve the Emulator and store it in its Isolation Area with the other 11.
Episode III[edit]
A much less stable Zohar Emulator made using surplus parts is shown to have been created by Sellers for the purpose of powering Ω Res Novae. After Dmitri Yuriev and the Salvator Faction take over the Durandal, Dmitri takes the Arbiter Code from Shelley and Mary Godwin to release the seals on the Zohar Emulators. After their activation, the Durandal slams into Abel's Ark with the Emulators on board. In its central chamber, Yuriev swaps out Sellers' Emulator in Ω Res Novae with the Original Zohar. The Emulators are seen divided up in groups of 3 for each pocket dimension guarded by a heavily mutated Gnosis. All 12 of Joachim Mizrahi's Emulators are later destroyed with each Gnosis guardians' defeat.
Lore[edit]
The seals used to contain Mizrahi's Zohar Emulators in the Isolation Area are named after Jesus's twelve Apostles from the Bible; the names given are:
- Peter, referencing the Apostle Peter, originally known as Simon.
- Andrew, referencing the Apostle Andrew, Peter's brother.
- Boanerges, referencing the Apostle James, as "Boanerges" (meaning "Sons of Thunder") was a title given by Jesus to him and his brother John.
- Thomas, referencing the Apostle Thomas, also known as Didymus.
- John, referencing the Apostle John, James' (Boanerges in Xenosaga) brother.
- Philip, referencing the Apostle Philip.
- Matthew, referencing the Apostle Matthew.
- Bartholemew, referencing the Apostle Bartholemew, also referred to as Nathanael.
- James, referencing the Apostle James, not to be confused with the other Apostle by the same name (Boanerges in Xenosaga).
- Thaddaeus, referencing the Apostle Thaddaeus, also referred to as Jude.
- Simon, referencing the Apostle Simon, not to be confused with Peter, who was also referred to as Simon.
- Judas, referencing the Apostle Judas, known for having betrayed Jesus. Not to be confused with Thaddaeus, who was also referred to as Judas.
The last seal, Marienkind is reserved for the original Zohar.

Episode I
emulator
Hardware or software which mimics the behavior of other computer operating systems.
The in-game reference is to the Zohar Emulators.
What "emulating" a Zohar actually amounts to, nor the exact purpose of the emulators, is as of yet unknown.
Episode III
Zohar Emulator
Emulators of the Original Zohar.
An emulator is something that simulates the operations of one computer system
on a different set of hardware and software. In this story, it refers to the
Original Zohar emulators created by the late Joachim Mizrahi.
They were used by the U-TIC Organization as auxiliary Originals for the link
experiments on planet Ariadne and elsewhere; however, their original role was
to act as an ignition "key" to operate the Original. A total of twelve were
created by Joachim, each one inscribed with the name of one of the Twelve
Apostles.
They went missing after the Miltian Conflict, but all twelve were recovered by
the Kukai Foundation, which currently manages them.
During the drill on Fifth Jerusalem, the Omega Res Novae was using an imitation emulator as its core that had been constructed by Dr. Sellers from surplus parts. It was used despite its unstable power output control, nearly causing the Omega to go out of control.

A total of twelve units were created by Joachim, each one inscribed with the name of one of the Twelve Apostles.
They went missing during the Miltian Conflict, but all twelve units have since been recovered and are currently managed by the Kukai Foundation.
Trivia[edit]
- The title cards of Xenosaga: The Animation features a Zohar Emulator's Hebrew numeral which denotes the episode's number.
