Queen Zephyr is a character of Xenogears. She is queen of Shevat.

Appearance and Personality

Zephyr has long brown hair and green eyes. She wears a hood over her head. Despite being in excess of 500 years old, she has the appearance of a woman in her early 20s due to life extension treatments.

Zephyr is a wise individual and has similar motivations to the party to defeat Solaris and assist the surface dwellers. She is regretful for the actions taken by her country during the war 500 years ago.

Story arc

Zephyr was around 500 years ago during the war between Shevat and Solaris, but remains alive today due to life extension treatments. During the war Shevat had an emperor, but its three sages, Balthasar, Gaspar and Taura acted as its true power. During the war Zephyr was sent to Nisan as an ambassador despite being only 13 years old. While there she spent time with Sophia. The entire imperial family would be killed during the war. Zephyr, along with the survivors such as Lacan and Roni would return to Shevat after the war's conclusion. Through the support of Roni and the three sages, she was elevated to the position of Queen. With Krelian offering life extension treatments to the 3 sages, Zephyr also desired and was provided such treatments, feeling responsible for Shevat's actions and viewing it as punishment. She would never marry nor have any children. Zephyr would take in Maria after she was brought to Shevat by Balthasar, and appoint her as Shevat's guardian. She also works with Wiseman, assigning him to watch over Grahf and bring any potential allies to the country.

In the current day Zephyr remains as the Queen of Shevat. The party first meets Zephyr when they come to Shevat. She is conversed with several times while Shevat defends itself from a Solaris attack, then when the party plans to destroy the Solaris Gates and infiltrate the country. Later Zephyr reveals to Citan the regretful actions of Shevat from the past and provides the Excalibur, Shevat's most powerful ship to the party to use against the enemy. She last appears in the Snowfield Hideout near the end of the game.
