The Y-Data is an extensive log of Joachim Mizrahi's research data and the target of several factions in the Xenosaga universe. The only remaining copy[note 1] is hidden within the neural network of MOMO Mizrahi.

Story[edit]

History[edit]

Some time before T.C. 4753, Joachim Mizrahi created the Y-Data from his analysis of the Fragments of Lemegeton that were scattered across the U.M.N. since the era of Lost Jerusalem. Lemegeton itself is a record of the words of God as inscribed by a certain person in ancient times. The information Mizrahi gleaned from these words amounted to a majority of what is contained within the Y-Data, and much of Mizrahi's work was based on them.

During the Miltian Conflict, several of Mizrahi's colleagues—namely Margulis, Sellers, and Kevin Winnicot—attempted to gain access to the Y-Data for their own aims. However, Mizrahi wouldn't budge. Following his death at the end of the conflict, the only remaining copy of the Y-Data was held by MOMO, the 100-Series prototype he created.

Episode I[edit]

In T.C. 4767, MOMO Mizrahi is taken captive by the U-TIC Organization in the hopes of extracting the Y-Data from her. However, before Albedo Piazzolla can have the chance to examine her, MOMO is rescued by a cyborg hired by the S.O.C.E. named Ziggy.

Later, in the ensuing chaos of a Gnosis attack on the Kukai Foundation, MOMO is once again kidnapped by Albedo and taken to the Song of Nephilim. In the Song of Nephilim, Albedo is seen attempting to access the Y-Data from MOMO's subconscious through physical means. However, he is interrupted partway through when Gaignun Kukai Jr. activates the Red Dragon. Albedo does manage catch a glimpse of the protections placed on the Y-Data, but does not progress enough to unlock the way to Old Miltia.

Episode II[edit]

When the main party arrives on Second Miltia, MOMO is brought to the U.M.N. Control Center to get the Y-Data analyzed. However, during the analysis, they discover that Albedo had planted a trap within MOMO's subconscious during their previous encounter. In order to prevent Albedo from accessing the Y-Data, MOMO fragments her neural network, but in doing so causes her to be unresponsive. The party then enters her Subconscious Domain in order to restore her neural network and retrieve the Y-Data, but it ends up being a lure to force MOMO's hand in stopping an altercation between Jr. and Albedo. MOMO falls for the lure, and Albedo retrieves the full Y-Data, opening the way to Old Miltia.

Episode III[edit]

Dmitri Yuriev, newly awakened within Gaignun Kukai's body, obtains the Y-Data by observing Albedo's subconscious through Gaignun. With the Galaxy Federation in his control, Yuriev begins the construction of the Merkabah using the information in the Y-Data and sets a plan in motion to unite the Relics of God and ascend to the Upper Domain.

Episode I

Y Data

A series of research data left by the late Joachim Mizrahi, sought by the U-TIC Organization and the S.O.C.E.

In the story, this data is said to exist in MOMO's unconscious memory, although it is not very certain.

Dialogs surrounding it suggest that this data is vital to the Zohar Project.

Y-Data

Said to be research data related to the Zohar, left behind by the late Joachim Mizrahi. Joachim sealed it into MOMO's subconscious domain during the Miltian Conflict.

In actuality, the data is a record of the words of God as inscribed by a person in ancient times; Joachim's analysis of these words was what enabled him to produce a multitude of research findings.

The U.M.N. transport code for Old Miltia, closed off fifteen years ago, is recorded inside the data. Someone who obtained this code would not only be able to gate-jump to Old Miltia again, but would also be able to obtain the Original Zohar sleeping on Old Miltia.

Consequently, a vicious battle unfolded between the U-TIC Organization and the Federation government over this Y-Data, with efforts on all sides concentrated on securing MOMO.

After MOMO had been brought into the custody of the Contact Subcommittee, an attempt to remove the protection from the Y-Data and salvage it was undertaken at the U.M.N. administration center on Second Miltia; thanks to Albedo Piazzolla's plot, however, the analysis failed. That resulted in the data being leaked to outside sources, setting off the space-time anomaly in Miltian space.

Notes[edit]

  1. The BradyGames Xenosaga Episode III Official Strategy Guide states that the data disk that Jin Uzuki gave to Canaan during the Miltian Conflict was an additional copy of the Y-Data. However, this misconception is directly contradicted by the Episode III database entry for Federal Report 08. Extra dialogue from Jin in Canaan's Xenosaga I & II side story (which covers the events of Episode II's prologue) outright denies that the data disk he holds is the Y-Data.
