Users of the wiki are permitted control over their own userspace. This page governs the rules of this control.

Ignoring these rules will most likely result in having the offending content removed. Continuous defiance means probably losing the right to have userspace content for a while. Drastic and blatant violations may result in being blocked altogether.

User pages[edit]

For the most part, you can put anything you want on the pages of your userspace. Go wild. There are some rules though.

  • Don't have anything that would be inappropriate compared to mainspace content.
  • Don't be rude. This should go without saying. Don't do stuff like "list of users I dislike", or "I own these pages and I'll revert any who touch", or "click here to read your new messages (it's actually a link to logout or to a shock website)", you get the idea.
  • Don't interfere with the mainspace. This means your user pages can't be in categories used for mainspace pages, be filled with redlinks to pages that should not exist, or have any semantic properties. Using templates is okay as long as they don't cause these sorts of issues.
    • Tagging a page for deletion is a valid exception.
  • Don't clutter your page with code or images with more complexity than a typical article. If no mainpages have 100 images in them, neither should your userpage.
  • Don't create large numbers of spammy subpages.

User images[edit]

You are allowed to upload "user images", images that have no purpose in the mainspace but you wish to use in your userspace. However, because images are fairly expensive, there are additional rules for them.

  • User images must be in Category:User images, and no other categories.
  • User images may not be used in the mainspace. If it has a valid mainspace purpose, then upload it normally instead of as a user image. You can use any uploaded image in your userspace, so this doesn't prevent you from that.
  • User images must be used. A user image that is unused may be deleted at any time without warning.
  • User images may not be on the "very large" side. If it's over a thousand pixels in either direction, that's probably too much.
  • User images may not be a duplicate of a mainspace image.
  • The number of user images allowed per user is based on the status of your account.
    • New user: 1
    • Autoconfirmed user: 5
    • Established user: 10 + 1 per subpage

Drafts[edit]

A specific use case for userspace is to hold drafts of future articles. As long as a draft is tagged with Template:Draft and it's clear it actually is a draft, most of these rules are waived. However, do try to avoid having a draft take up space in categories or with semantics.
