Bots are "users" that can do certain things far more efficiently than humans, typically edits of the form "move all pages from category X to category Y" or "change this template's parameter from Q to R in all uses". The wiki's resident bot is known as PyRikiBot.
Bot rights[edit]
Bot accounts:
- Don't show up in RecentChanges by default
- Are autoconfirmed even if they normally wouldn't be
- Patrol themselves
- Can move pages without leaving redirects behind
- Can edit user talk pages without triggering the "you have new messages" notice
- Have higher rate limits when they use the API
