Autoconfirmed users are users who have been here for a week (7 days) and have at least ten (10) edits to their name. These users have made their first steps in improving the wiki, and as such deserve some extra permissions.
The main purpose of the autoconfirmed group is to allow us to add an extra layer of security to certain things. Broadly speaking, this lets us have three "states" of non-staff visitors:
- You don't need to have an account to do this.
- You need to have an account to do this.
- You need to have an account that is not brand-new to do this.
The third step is useful for actions that we don't wish "just make an account" to be a free pass for. As a result, becoming an autoconfirmed user cannot be expedited: you need to pass the age and edit requirements, full stop, no cheating.
Autoconfirmed rights[edit]
Users that are autoconfirmed may:
- Edit semi-protected pages, which are pages off-limits to IPs and new users for various reasons
- Skip any CAPTCHAs
- Upload images
