Visigels are an enemy species in Xenoblade Chronicles X under the Piscinoid classification. These parasites resemble jellyfish that float through the air.

While their bodies and habits are similar to those of unafulges, visigels float with dangling legs facing downwards while unafulges have no legs and float like balloons.

Description[edit]

Parasitic organisms with anatomical structures akin to jellyfish, visigels are known for their peculiar process of self-replication. Their spore-like eggs are either rubbed directly onto a host, or else scattered to the winds after the adult self-destructs. Once an egg hatches inside a host, the newborn visigel will slowly devour it from the inside out. After reaching the outside world, it then inflates its balloon- like body and soars away.

Though parthenogenesis is the visigel's primary mode of reproduction, there are rare cases in which two visigels meet within a host, allowing sexual reproduction to occur. In order to prioritize the survival of their genetically richer offspring, the parents then exit the host's body and perish.

Extra details[edit]

According to the mission Ovah and Out, visigels and Orpheans share the capacity for an Ovah, which came to the bio visigels when one of them ate an Orphean. Because of this, some visigels are able to divide through fission and continue living after being destroyed. Han'barac developed a weapon called the Savage Ziyse that can halt Ovah activity in visigels, in order to prevent them from becoming a threat to Mira.

In combat[edit]

Visigels typically are not very powerful. However, they do come in large groups and can spin to tackle enemies and emit waves of ether to do damage from afar.

If their head is still intact, visigels can unleash a powerful Self-Destruct to deal heavy melee damage to everyone around them.
