Treasure chest (XC1)
- For other articles titled "Treasure chest", see Treasure chest (disambiguation).
Treasure chests can be found in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. They exist in two different varieties: chests dropped by enemies, and chests that are found across the world.
Chests dropped by enemies[edit]
Most enemies drop a treasure chest when defeated. They come in three varieties:
- Wooden chests (common) - Contains one or two materials
- Silver chests (rare) - Contains materials, normal weapons, and ether crystals
- Golden chests (very rare) - Contains weapons, unique weapons, armour, and Arts Manuals
Unique monsters are guaranteed to always drop golden chests, while quest-exclusive enemies generally drop silver chests. If enemies are grouped in a squad, only the last enemy killed will drop a chest, but it is more likely to be gold and guaranteed to otherwise be silver. Chests are affected by gravity and water currents, even if time is otherwise stopped on the battlefield.
Some enemies, mainly bosses and story-exclusive enemies, don't drop any chest at all. Riki can still use his Yoink! Talent Art to obtain items that the enemy would drop if it would drop chests.
Unopened chests remain until opened, even when leaving the area or saving and reloading the game. The contents of a chest are determined when opened, not when created, so it is possible to get a specific item by constantly reloading a save until the chest has it.
The only way to remove a chest without opening it is to create enough simultaneous chests that the oldest disappears. In the original version, a chest that falls off the map is simply lost, but in the Definitive Edition such chests teleport directly to the player instead.
Stationary chests[edit]
Stationary treasure chests are rather rare in Xenoblade Chronicles, especially when compared to its sequel. There are 13 treasure chests spread throughout the Bionis, some of which require the High Entia Emblem to access. Each chest contains between two and four items and are of either High Entia or Giant origin. All chests are reset after starting New Game Plus.
Main game[edit]
Future Connected[edit]
Future Connected has an additional seven Giants' Troves located on the Bionis' Shoulder. Each chest contains one or two items.
