Stance
Stances are a mechanic in the combat of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Certain Battle Arts provide the user with a stance: a temporary status which provides one or more effects on the user. These effects are often beneficial, although there may be detrimental effects to balance out particularly-beneficial ones.
Stances are distinct from buffs in that only one can be active at once. They are marked with a blue hexagon on the combat UI next to a character's HP bar. They are the equivalent of the Auras of other games in the series.
When stance Arts are upgraded, they typically receive a shorter cooldown, rather than a higher power. All party member stances last for 30 seconds at base. Their Fusion Art bonus is typically an increase to the status duration. Stance durations can also be extended by the effect of a Chain Ring or Shackle Ring.
No party members nor enemies have stances in Future Redeemed.
