Sever (ザンテツ) a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He is Malos's Blade.

Appearance and personality

Sever is a Blade that looks more like an Igna than a human: he has more of a reptilian shape, with mandibles, no neck, a conical tail, and digitigrade legs. He has blue skin and wears black armor with gold and burgandy trim. His Core Crystal is a distorted hexagon-like gem shape.

Sever enjoys the part of combat where he gets to be violent. He hisses at his enemies and sometimes cracks bad puns while gleefully cutting them up. Outside of combat, he is more calm and expresses a preference for being alone.

Story arc

Sever is introduced alongside the rest of Torna as Malos's Blade. His presence is mostly glossed over - aside from remarking on Rex's skills in a non-voiced text box on the C.S.E.V. Maelstrom, he has no story dialogue and simply follows Malos around. He fights alongside Malos during the confrontation on the Ancient Ship after Pyra is awakened, but has only incidental lines related to the fight and takes little initiative himself. Sever is then absent from the plot until the first cutscene of chapter 3, where he again follows Malos without dialogue, and the ending of chapter 3, where he again fights alongside Malos without dialogue. At the end of the chapter he is killed by Mythra to no fanfare, with Obrona's simultaneous death taking the spotlight instead. He is never seen or even mentioned again.

As a party member

Chapter 1

During chapter 1, Malos is placed in the party, and Sever acts as his Blade. While fully functional, the player can't play as Malos, and so can only watch Sever do things.

New Game Plus

Main article: Sever/Gameplay (XC2)

In a New Game Plus file, Sever is available in Core Crystals. He behaves like any other Rare Blade, though he has less personal content, such as very little banter and no Blade Quest.

Sever can be found at a random location in Garfont Village after Rex takes over the Merc Group, provided he is not equipped to his Driver or sent on a Merc Mission. The specific locations he may be found at are listed here.
