Sena (セナ, Sena) is a playable character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She is a soldier from Agnus.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Sena is a girl with a small physique and dark blue hair. The tips of her hair as well as certain lines along her body glow in the same blue light as the gem on her chest, which appears to be a Core Crystal, similar to a Blade. She wears short denim shorts and a belt as well as a black crop top and a small denim jacket. Additionally, she wears gloves and boots with white plating, a color associated with the military of Agnus. During her time as a soldier, Sena wore a short sleeved chestplate, with white sleeves, and grey pants. Her term mark is located the top of her left arm. She bears quite a few similarities to Brighid from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
With her superhuman strength, she wields the Comet Mallet in battle which can be upgraded into the Meteor Smasher.
Sena has a cheerful and energetic personality and enjoys muscle training. Despite her strength however, she is shy and lacks confidence when around other people. Sena despises fighting and taking lives from others.
As Ouroboros[edit]
When interlinking with Lanz, Sena takes on one of two Ouroboros forms: one associated with herself, the other with Lanz. Sena's Ouroboros form is a (comparatively) short, white and purple humanoid with glowing cores in its wrists. It is flanked by two great hand-like wings which may combine into a giant hammer. A thin tail-like extension hangs from the back of its head, ending in a flaming ring. The form's heels feature jet boosters, which can be used both for grounded acceleration and for extra support during feats of strength.
Like Sena herself, her Ouroboros form prioritises physical strength; it is strong enough to overturn Lambda Ferronis. The wings may be used to perform powerful physical blows both individually and when combined into the hammer, and they can additionally form large energy balls for use as ranged attacks.
Story arc[edit]
Background[edit]
Sena was originally from Colony Theta, where she met Mio and became close friends with her. Later, through Mio, Sena became friends with Miyabi too. At her fourth term, Sena, Mio, and Miyabi were transferred to Colony Omega by Consul Y. Due to an experiment, the Flame Clock exploded, releasing a toxic gas in the process and killing almost all the Colony inhabitants. Sena and Mio survived thanks to Miyabi carrying them to an escape pod. After the incident, they were transferred to Colony Gamma and paired with Taion, Hackt, and Manana, whom they befriended.
Chapter 1[edit]
Sena, Mio, and Taion are given a special mission to intercept a mysterious airship and destroy an unidentified Ether source in Alfeto Valley. In there, they first encounter Noah's party at Melnath's Shoulder. She battles Lanz using her Comet Mallet, but he manages to block her attack with his Shieldblade, much to her surprise.
Guernica breaks up the fight, asking why they are fighting each other in the first place. Just as Guernica is about to reveal the identity of the party's real enemy, he is impaled by an unidentified creature's stalactite-like projectile. The creature then approaches the party with Mwamba and Hackt in both hands. He then tries to goad both the Kevesi and Agnian parties to kill each other. When they refuse, he kills both Mwamba and Hackt. Enraged, Mio attacks him in revenge, followed by Sena and Taion.
Sena and the party at first have a difficult time harming the creature. During the skirmish, she thanks Eunie for healing her after she was injured by the creature. When Guernica activates the Ouroboros Stone, Sena, along with the rest of the party, become Ouroboros. He later assists an Interlinked Noah and Mio in defeating the creature, but not before he marks the party as enemies of Moebius.
After the skirmish, a dying Guernica explains that the party has become Ouroboros. He warns them that Moebius will be hunting them relentlessly and directs them to their new destination: the City at Swordmarch. After Guernica's death, Noah and Mio send him off before both parties make the journey back to their respective colonies.
When Mio and co. try to return to Colony Gamma however, they come under attack by their own troops, forcing them to flee back to Melnath's Shoulder at the same time Noah's group flees Colony 9. Both parties decide to team up and head for Swordmarch together. Both parties introduce themselves to each other, with Sena saying her hobby is lifting. They change clothes and set up camp for the night, planning to leave for Swordmarch in the morning.
Chapter 2[edit]
Before departing for Swordmarch, the party spots to Guernica's dog tags and learn his name. When the party reaches Millick Meadows, they restart an abandoned Ferronis and sets up camp there. The next day, as Noah is looking at news of the war through his Iris, he notices an icon appeared above Mio's head. They realize they now have the ability to change Classes, with Sena changing into Lanz's Class, as well as implementing Master Arts. They test these powers on some Bodem Grebels before reaching the Fornis Region.
When the party enters Eagus Wilderness, Mio becomes dehydrated and struggles from the heat, prompting Sena to carry her, much to Taion's dismay. The two spot an oasis, exciting Mio, prompting the party to take a break there to go swimming.
After swimming, as the party makes their way to Ribbi Flats. Just as they were about to make it out of Eagus Wilderness, they come under attack by Colony 4. When Noah fails to reason with Ethel (due to her being under the control of Consul K), they flee into a nearby cave system, using the black fog as cover before being cornered by Ethel.
When Ethel approaches the black fog, she stops, breaking free of K's control. K comes out of hiding and engages the party himself. After being wounded, K transforms into his Moebius form and starts harvesting the Colony's Flame Clock to heal himself. Noah and Mio decide to destroy the Flame Clock but are targeted by K, causing Sena and Lanz interlink for the first time to save them. Without the Flame Clock, K is swiftly killed by the party. When the party removes the fallen Consul's helmet, they are shocked to see that he has wrinkles just like Guernica. Ethel and rest of Colony 4's soldiers regained consciousness, much to the party's relief. Noah then sends off the late Consul despite the party's protest. Back at Colony 4, Ethel allows the party to stay and make use of the facilities at their leisure.
Inside the tent, Taion reveals that the consuls for Colony 4 and Colony Gamma were the same person. The party discusses this and speculates that both queens are in league with them.
Chapter 3[edit]
The next day, the party is summoned by Ethel in the Council chamber. On their way, they came across Bolearis, who reveals that Colony 4 was demoted to Dirt rank after a scandal in which Ethel spared Cammuravi after his Ferronis malfunctioned. Ethel then told them that her soldiers still stood with her despite the demotion, before directing the party to the Council chamber.
In the Council chamber, Ethel reviews the routes to Swordmarch, eliminating the north route due to being close to Agnus Castle, the direct route due to how dangerous the Great Sea's vortex is, leaving the south route the only choice. She estimates that the party will reach Swordmarch in two months. After the meeting, when the party leaves the Ferronis, Mio and Sena came across Jeremy, who accuses them of killing his friend in a fight against Colony Psi. Laszlo then offers the two food rations before thanking them for destroying the Flame Clock and giving him the choice not to fight.
The party then decides to help out several people in the Colony. They are then greeted by a worried Bolearis who says that Ethel disappeared, prompting them to search for her. The party finds her overlooking a cliff and helps her retrieve several airdrops for the Colony. After these tasks, the party bids farewell to Ethel and depart for Ribbi Flats. Before heading to bed, Sena takes a bath before convincing Mio to take one before departing Colony 4. Later, the party decides to take a break, during which Sena complains about not being able to take the lead while interlinked. Shortly after, the party encounters a steep area that they can't climb and meet a Levnis mechanic named Valdi. The party assists Valdi and destroys his Colony's Flame Clock, and he in turn teaches them the Wall Climbing skill.
