Saffronia
- "Saffronia tree" redirects here. For the landmark in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, see Saffronia Tree (landmark).
Saffronias are a type of tree found in the Xenoblade series. They are large trees with thick, oak-like trunks and canopies of orange-pink leaves which glow at nighttime.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 2[edit]
Saffronias can be found in Uraya, in particular in the Stomach. They glow during Night Incense weather, and said weather's icon depicts Saffronia petals.
The Saffronia trees are the subject of Floren's quests, Nature Boy and Unspoken Suspicion: Floren wishes to heal ones damaged by the party's fighting. Later, when Angry Durro tries to burn Saffronia trees to get Floren to hand over information, the residents of Fonsa Myma resist him, saying that the Saffronias are important to them.
Elma admires the Saffronia trees during her reconnoitering of Alrest. She initially calls them "cherry blossoms", and once corrected, explains what they were and what they meant to her.
In Xenoblade Chronicles 3[edit]
The Lost Colony is filled with Saffronias; these are the source of the name of its area theme, Saffronia Village. Nimue used to live there; one of Taion's memories of her is a photo of the Saffronias that she once showed him.
The Rae-Bel Tableland has a lone Saffronia Tree growing out of a rock as a landmark. Seeing it reminds Taion of Nimue. Chapter 3 is named "Saffronias" likely for this reason.
In Future Redeemed, the Pioneer's Point apex has a large Saffronia which overlooks almost the entirety of Aurora Shelf.
Trivia[edit]
- "Saffronia" is always capitalised in English and German, but not in French or Spanish. Its capitalisation in Italian is inconsistent.
