Proto Ω (Omega) is a superweapon in the Xenosaga series. It is said that it can be used to challenge "God".

Appearance and description

Proto Ω is colossal golden winged humanoid mech. Proto Ω is one of the relics of God, the Zohar is used as its power unit. It uses Higher Dimension energy drawn from the Zohar. Proto Ω is armed with a U.M.N. Phase Transfer Cannon which can strike any target anywhere in space.

Story

History

Proto Ω was built on Michtam, but its exact date is unknown. After Michtam's destruction, Proto Ω was moved to Miltia where it was completed by the U-TIC Organization under the order of Ormus Patriarch Sergius XVII to ascend to the realm of God. During the Miltian Conflict, Proto Ω was used to conduct repeated linkage-operational tests with the Original Zohar. Proto Ω was later deployed against Federation forces during the first and second Miltian descent operations. Proto Ω was planned to be deployed in the third descent operation, but the appearance of the Gnosis caused it to be abandoned in the hangar in confusion for 14 years.

Episode II

After Albedo opens the way to Old Miltia, Ormus and the Immigrant Fleet were the first to arrive. By the time the party reaches the Zohar, Sergius already activated Proto Ω despite KOS-MOS destroying the Zohar's control system. Sergius plans to use Proto Ω to annihilate the Gnosis and bring the galaxy under the rule of Ormus.

Miltia is later destroyed with the Ω System emerging from its rubble, serving as the fortress of Proto Ω. Sergius later uses Proto Ω's U.M.N. Phase Transfer Cannon on Albedo, apparently killing him. He then attempts to use Proto Ω's U.M.N. Phase Transfer Cannon on the party as well but is killed by the Testaments who then revived Albedo.

Episode III

Main article: Ω Res Novae

Proto Ω was later recovered by Dmitri Yuriev and is rebuilt as Ω Res Novae based on the stored Y-Data to be used as an anti-Gnosis weapon.

Proto Ω is used by the Patriarch during the battle with him. It uses U.M.N. Phase Transfer Cannon - Scatter (Beam) under his command to attack the party.

Proto Omega

One of the relics of God.

One of the relics of God, constructed and operated by the U-TIC Organization during the Miltian Conflict. It was originally built on Abraxas (Michtam), but was smuggled onto Miltia upon the destruction of Michtam.

Afterwards, it was subjected to repeated linkage-operational tests with the Original Zohar, then deployed to intercept Federation forces during the first and second Miltian descent operations. It was set to be deployed in the third descent operation as well, but once the Gnosis appeared, it was left at the hangar in the confusion.

After that, it was once again operated by Sergius XVII upon his landing on Miltia. It was recovered by Dmitri Yuriev after Miltia's destruction and underwent final refurbishment based on the Y-Data.
