Prone
The Prone are a race of xenoforms in Xenoblade Chronicles X from the planet Tormein. These humanoids are known for their tentacled faces and their physical strength, with the ability to lift containers and construct massive strongholds in a matter of days. Additionally, the Prone are able to tame the indigens of Mira, and have used them to aid them in battle.
Characteristics[edit]
While the Prone have a humanoid body structure, their appearance is quite different from that of a human's. From the neck down, their body structure is mainly human, although their muscles are typically larger on average. However, their heads are largely different. Prone have six eyes, with their primary set being rather low on their face. Additionally they are hairless, with large sets of tentacles on their face.
The physical traits of male and female Prone are very different, however. Male Prone are much larger, and their tentacles are primarily on the front of the face, resembling a large mustache. Female Prone are around the size of humans, and they have multiple sets of tentacles around their face.
The Prone culture is prone to war, as the two main clans, the Cavern Clan and the Tree Clan, have been at war with each other for thousands of years. Prior to the events of the game, the Ganglion provided weapons and aid to the Cavern Clan, allowing the Cavern Clan to defeat the Tree Clan. The Tree Clan survivors were forced to work as slaves.
Cavern Clan[edit]
- Main article: Cavern Clan
The members of the Cavern Clan have pink skin. They mainly reside in Ganglion strongholds in Primordia, Noctilum, and Oblivia.
Most members of the Cavern Clan are hostile to humans, as they have joined the Ganglion. That being said, the Ganglion don't always treat them right, like Slovity Pagus and her team, who ended up left behind after an attack and forced to fend for themselves.
Tree Clan[edit]
- Main article: Tree Clan
The members of the Tree Clan have blue skin. It's also known that they worship a spirit known as the Great Tree.
Initially, the humans were unaware that the Prone were comprised of multiple clans. During the mission Prone Sweet Prone, however, Stella discovers through FrontierNav that there is a group of xenoforms held in Scabland Fortress as forced laborers. Once rescued, it's revealed that their leader, Sevvy Belgazus, is a Prone from the Tree Clan. He and his people agree to move to NLA in order to defeat the Ganglion and save their people.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2[edit]
During Otherworldly Fighter, Elma perceives the entire party as Prone and decides to fight them but is bested. Back in the Land of Challenge, the Nopon Archsage clears up the misconception, saying that he arranged the encounter.
Lore[edit]
- Prone characters have two names: their first being a given name and their last name being that of a creature, either one indigenous to their home planet or one on Mira. After important events, some Prone will change their names to that of a new creature, like Thea Pilattis to Thea Falsaxum.
- While the Prone have a knowledge of weapons and even Skell combat, they have less experience with everyday technology, with technology such as video cameras being mysterious to them.
- Prone tend to speak with short sentences, eliminating articles such as "the" from regular English speech. Additionally, they refer to humans as "Earth aliens".
- The common Prone funeral rite is to feed the Prone corpse to a native creature. This creature is typically honored in a Prone name afterwards.
- According to town chatter in the Commercial District, Prone bodies grow into their adult form at five years old.
