Nortune is an area in Xenogears. It is the capital city of the Kislev Empire.

Story

Fei is brought to Nortune after the events at the Aveh - Kislev Border. At the recommendation of Miang (hiding her identity as the Executioner), Fei is placed in the D Block prison section of the city. There he is forced to immediately undergo a Baptismal Ceremony where he fights up to five separate fighters, concluding with the mighty Rico who defeats him. Fei awakens with an explosive bomb collar around his neck, preventing his escape. Fei soon meets Hammer, a local supplier and Citan takes over as the local doctor. Unable to remove the bomb collar, Fei remains stuck in Nortune.

Fei's strong Gear piloting abilities soon raises the attention of the Battling Committee and Fei is recruited to take part despite initially declining. Rico's subordinates attempt to kill him, and then are murdered in the Sewers, causing Fei and Rico to temporarily join forces and investigate. Afterwards Fei continues to proceed through the Battling Tournament and after a nighttime visit from Wiseman, faces Rico himself, ultimately defeating him and becoming Battling Champion.

As Battling Champion, Fei's bomb collar is removed and he, Citan and Hammer plot on how to escape from the city with Weltall, deciding that a raid of the Nortune Gear Docks is the best way to go about it. Fei is invited to visit Sigmund, the ruler of Kislev, but Rico breaks into the Central Administrative Block during the visit and is arrested and set to be executed for a false assassination attempt. Fei is recruited to also help rescue Rico during his escape and he agrees to do so.

Meanwhile Gebler is ordered to launch an attack on Nortune as part of a scheme from the Gazel Ministry to destroy the entire city to kill Fei. Dominia is put in charge and has Elly and the Gebler Special Forces fighting under her. The night Fei steals Weltall is the same night that the Gebler attack happens. Fei takes part in trying to save the city and convinces Elly to defect from Gebler and assist him and Rico in fighting against her former allies. Through their efforts Nortune is ultimately saved. Fei and the others escape from the city shortly afterwards.

Nortune is revisited later in the game when Kislev and Aveh agree to a peace agreement and Solaris launches an attack to try and stop it. It is discovered that the Central Administrative Block of Nortune is in fact a giant craft which is named the Yggdrasil IV. Bart is able to use it and successfully stop the attack.

Nortune can be revisited on disc 2 although the party is only able to visit the Battling Arena or sell monster parts.

Nortune is in the central area of Kislev, located to the north of the Aveh border and to the south of the Goliath Factory.
