Story arc[edit]

Following Kino's idea, she and Kino sneaked into the Junks right before Shulk and Melia began their trip to the Bionis' Shoulder. When the Junks crashes, Nene and Kino are attacked by three Volffs, but Shulk and Melia heroically save them. When Melia asks Kino if he is okay, he shows signs of shyness, and Nene has to talk in his position. Shortly after, the party moves to a safer place, where Nene makes Kino explain how they sneaked into the Junks. Nene adds that Kino wants to follow his dad’s steps and help everyone in his journey. When Kino motivates himself saying this is the start of Heropon Kino, Nene lets out a "Meh-hey!" to support him.

After arriving to Alcamoth, being redirected there by Maxis and Gael'gar, Nene finds Alcamoth in an underwhelming state, saying the housekeeping been slacking off. Right after that, Kino claims he is not afraid of the Fog King, until Nene pokes him telling him to turn around. The party then hears a young scream and finds Teelan being attacked by a Snowal Taos covered in black fog. Nene and Shulk rush towards it to deliver a physical attack, letting Melia deliver the final blow. Moments later, the black fog condenses into a humanoid-like creature; Nene, alongside Shulk, attempt physical attacks, which have no effect, Kino and Melia use ether attacks instead. After partially defeating it and shortly reappearing again, the party decides to flee.

At Teelan's lab, when Melia says she is stepping outside for some air, Kino says he's going too, but Nene forbids it. Upon reaching Gran Dell, Kino and Nene are amazed by the affable Armu. Melia states that it is no different from any other Armu, to which Kino responds, "different subtle" and Nene agrees with him. Still in Gran Dell, Melia reminds the group of their goal to defeat the Fog King, to which Nene says "Just let Nene at 'em". Right after that, a big rift appears in the sky and the party rush to get near.

As the party reaches the transporter leading to Alcamoth, they find some Ponios consumed by black fog. After defeating them, Shulk and Melia gasp in horror, Nene asks what is the matter, they say the same effect could have applied to the Armus from Gran Dell, prompting the party to rush back.

Upon arrival, they find the Armus causing trouble as expected. After defeating them, Kino demands a year supply of Sweet Wasabi, but Nene scolds him, stating that a true Heropon never asks for compensation. Kino looks surprised, having thought otherwise.

When the party returns to Teelan's lab and is attacked by Gael'gar, Melia is severely injured, so they take her to Gran Dell. Kino uses an ether mist to reawaken Melia, which successfully works, making Nene congratulate him proudly. Later, when Shulk says Melia needs to rest, Kino prepares to aim his gunberry at her, Nene asks what's that for, he explains that he plans to use Tranquilsnooze to make her have sweet dreams. Nene slaps him, calling his plan excessive. The force of the slap sends Kino flying, pinballing off two objects before landing in the cockpit of a nearby ship hull. Nene proudly claps the dirt off her hands.

When Shulk, Melia, Radzam, and Teelan discuss how to defeat the Fog King, Shulk mentions that the ether concentration is too low. Kino lets out a "Corcentation?", and Nene scolds him for interrupting an adult conversation. Kino grumbles that he is bored.

During the big battle against the Fogbeasts in Gran Dell, Nene is aware of the situation being though, but she still says things like "And Nene teach you better manners!". After the Cape residents relocate to Gran Dell and Shulk upgrades the Monado, Nene claims it looks the same. After Shulk explains the tweaks he made, Nene excitedly says the denouement is near. Before departing to Alcamoth for the final battle, Nene says to Teelan to not cause mischief in meantime, and then she says to Tyrea "Nene guard friends and friends of friends!" Kino gets angry because according to him, that is a line from "Heropon Kino."

When the party arrive to the location where the Fog King is, Nene says he's looking awfully foggy today. When they apparently defeat it, Nene says says to him to never come back, but when it reappers, Nene lets out a "Fog King not take no for answer". In the very final battle, Nene fights hard with physical attacks and according to her, a "dish out extra-mega serving of bishy-bashy with cherry on top". After defeating the Fog King, both Kino and Nene jump with joy.

Following the Fog King's defeat, the party returns to Gran Dell, where Nene and Kino excitedly explain what happened to Teelan and some Gran Dell residents like Bartholomew. Upon finally returning to Colony 9, Kino and Nene reunite with Riki and Oka, while Kino is crying in Oka's arms, Nene looks proudly at Kino; both Oka and Kino seem proud of their children. Kino, Nene, and Riki are later seen helping with Alcamoth's repairs and in Melia's big coronation.
