Story arc[edit]
History[edit]
When the Eldridge crashed, Kadomony activated a program known as System Hawwa which awakened the original Miang. Acting as the mother of humanity, she created, with the assistance of a biological assembler plant the first humans born on the planet, Cain and the Gazel Ministry. She also created 2 duplicates of herself, Elehaym and Miang (0000). Miang's role is to manage humanity such that one day they can be used in the resurrection of Deus. As such, she is fated to exist until Deus's resurrection. The Miang factor exists within the genes of all women. When Miang dies, her consciousness will awaken in the body of another woman. All of her memories and knowledge will be retained in her new body, with the original personality being overwritten. As part of her programming she is forbidden from killing herself.
Nearly 1,000 women have awoken as Miang over 10,000 years, with the current version being the 998th version. Throughout history, Miang is responsible for judging whether humanity has sufficiently evolved so as to be effective body parts for Deus. One such incarnation of Miang existed in the Zeboim civilization, as twins (0661). At this time, humanity suffered from genetic anomalies due to the effect of radiation. This included mutation and reduced fertility. Miang judged that humanity was defective and as such manipulated the President to instigate nuclear war, which wiped out the vast majority of humanity. As part of this incarnation she had reviewed the research of Kim, and granted him a research facility although recognizing her true nature he moved his creation (Emeralda) to a separate facility.
500 years prior to the start of the game, during the Solaris - Shevat war, Miang (0970) was in conflict with the Gazel Ministry. While the Ministry was seeking the prompt resurrection of Deus, she had judged that once again humanity was not ready to be parts for Deus. The Ministry arranged with Shevat to betray Miang and exchange her for Sophia and the Nisan rebel army. Miang was imprisoned in Shevat where she was eventually found by Lacan. Lacan, who was in despair at the time over the death of Sophia was manipulated by her into seeking out the Zohar. As a result of his incomplete contact with the Zohar, Lacan became Grahf and wiped out most of humanity during the Day of Collapse. As a result Miang's goals were once again achieved.
Miang eventually met Krelian and worked alongside him on the M Project. She would later awaken in the body of Fei's mother, Karen Wong (0997) after her previous host body got too old. Knowing that Fei was the Contact, she reported this to Krelian and they started conducting numerous experiments on Fei, which eventually resulted in the emergence of his Id personality. When Fei's power went out of control, Karen's consciousness was able to at the last second take back control of her body and sacrifice herself to save her son. Following Karen's death, Miang awakened in her present day form.
Present Day[edit]
The present day Miang acts as the chief lieutenant for Ramsus and typically accompanies him. In addition, the two are in a romantic relationship which goes back to when they were students. The two met during their time in Jugend, at which time she was still secretly working with Krelian on the M Plan. Miang briefly held the role of Element after Jessie's departure from Solaris, and then took on the position of Guardian Angel.
Miang also hides her identity as The Executioner, an individual that is regarded with fear by the people of Solaris. Through this identity she provided support to Kislev in their war with Aveh, first by providing them access to Weltall and then later providing them with access to a Gatekeeper device.
Miang first appears in the game alongside Ramsus when they arrive at Bledavik in a Gebler battleship to meet with Shakhan. She stays at the castle throughout their time in Aveh and eventually confronts Bart alongside Ramsus when he rescues Margie and tries to escape with her. In a later scene at night we see her conversing with Grahf, revealing that the two still have a relationship with each other, although Grahf doesn't know her true intentions. When Bart leads an attempt to try and retake the throne of Aveh, Miang accompanies Shakhan in trapping him, until Maison comes to the rescue. She then accompanies Ramsus to the desert frontline with Kislev, including accompanying him in battle in her personal Gear, C1 Vierge. After Id quickly defeats Ramsus, she brings Ramsus to safety then temporarily splits up with him under her Executioner role to have Fei put in the D-Block section of Nortune.
Miang later accompanies Ramsus to the Aquvy region and, after Elly is captured by Dominia, she provides her with safety, but then secretly hypnotizes her such that Elly tampers with the engine of the Yggdrasil. She then accompanies Ramsus in another Gear battle as he attempts to defeat Fei. She continues to accompany Ramsus as he pursues Fei and the others up Babel Tower, participating in a Gear battle alongside him once again. Miang remains with Ramsus, including when he is chewed out by the Gazel Ministry for his repeated failures.
After the party infiltrates Solaris, Miang accompanies Grahf, under her role as Executioner, as he tries to stop the party from leaving. Afterwards she kills Erich, Elly's father when he arrives in a Gear to help in the escape. She is seen talking with Krelian shortly afterwards. In the second disc of the game Miang continues her lengthy manipulation of Ramsus and along with Krelian get him to focus on Cain as the individual holding back his power. As a result Ramsus is convinced to kill Cain. This enables the Gazel Ministry to use the Gaetia Key and activate Mahanon. Miang accompanies Krelian both to Mahanon and to Golgoda in her role as the Executioner. When the party launches an attack on Merkava, Miang personally takes them on in her Omnigear, Opiomorph. Despite defeating her, due to the Gear being composed of nanomachines she is able to immediately recover. At that moment Ramsus appears to confront her and Krelian. No longer having any use for him, Miang admits the truth to Ramsus, that she has been manipulating him this entire time and that he existed solely to kill Cain. Angry at this, Ramsus stabs her with her sword, killing her. Even this went according to Miang's plan as with the death of her present body she is able to awaken in Elly as the 999th and final Miang. At this point she reveals the origins of Deus and its resurrection to the party. She then proceeds to depart with Krelian, to become absorbed into Deus.
One final incarnation of Miang appears after the defeat of Deus as the game's final boss, Urobolus, summoned by Krelian to test Fei. Fei's defeat of Urobolus represents the final destruction of Miang and the end to her cycle of resurrection.

When possessing Elly after her previous host body was killed by Ramsus, Miang has a similar appearance to her host, but with purple eyes as well as purple hair. Miang wears an identical outfit to that of her previous host body, albeit with blue accents.
Historically Miang's appearance has varied based on her host body. In her original form she also has purple eyes and hair, which is extremely long and exceeds the height of her body. Her form during the Zeboim era greatly resembles her present day appearance. Her form from 500 years ago also resembles her present day appearance, although it is possible the usage of her present day sprite was a gesture made so as to be able to recognize her and not how she literally appeared at the time. When possessing Karen however, her appearance does not alter that of her host body's. As Urobolus, she resembles her original form except she has a snake like tail and wings, akin to a humanoid version of her Omnigear, Opiomorph.
Effectively acting as the human personification of Deus, all of Miang's actions are with the goal of one day resurrecting it. She will pursue any action as long as it meets her long term goals. This includes hiding her true nature, manipulating others and even invoking mass genocide. Because of her machinations, Miang is the central antagonist of Xenogears.
