Kelvena is a character of Xenogears. She is one of the Elements representing the Water element. She is often paired with Dominia.
Appearance and Personality[edit]
Kelvena has chin length blue hair. She never appears with her eyes open in her character portrait, although they are open for her sprite.
In stark contrast to her colleague Dominia, whom she often is paired with, Kelvena has a calm and more laid back attitude. She would prefer not to fight but does so when she feels there is no choice.
Story arc[edit]
Kelvena is a current day member of the Elements, a group of 4 powerful fighters working within Gebler. Her place of origin is unknown. She was Elly's classmate while the two were enrolled at Jugend. As such she has some hesitancy in fighting her, but feels like she has no choice but to do so. The Elements were created to ignore Solaris social class and rather be based on strength. The Elements are close associates that report directly to Ramsus. Kelvena has significant ether power and typically appears with her eyes closed so as to enable her to control it better.
Kelvena first appears in the game in the Aquvy region, piloting the Gear Haishao along with fellow Element Dominia. Although Kelvena is in charge of the mission, Dominia changes plans and has them pursue the Yggdrasil in order to sink it. The Haisho is fought off by the party members and the two of them retreat. As the party seeks to destroy the Gates that are keeping Solaris hidden from the rest of the world, Kelvena and the other elements personally head out to stop them. Kelvena, accompanied by Dominia, heads to Babel Tower, but is defeated twice by Fei and Elly and is unable to prevent the destruction of the Gate. During these battles she pilots her personal Gear, Marinebasher.
Kelvena next appears along with the other Elements at the first Anima Dungeon where she hopes to recover the Anima Relic recently obtained by the party. She and her colleagues are defeated, first in person and then in their combined Gear, G-Elements. When the party heads to Merkava, Kelvena and the other Elements are encountered along the way. This time they have no desire to fight the party, telling them that they are trying to help Ramsus who has been manipulated by Krelian and Miang. When the party is confronted by Ramsus in Merkava, Kelvena appears alongside the other Elements as Dominia pleads with Ramsus to not fight, saying he was used. Ramsus ignores what is said and attacks the party. Kelvena's final appearance is in the Snowfield Hideout. There, Citan, accompanied by the Elements is able to finally convince Ramsus that he isn't trash and that they are here for him.
Lore[edit]
Kelvena's name in the Japanese version of the game is Cherubina, which was mistranslated for the US release. Her name, similar to the other Elements, originates from the names of the highest order of Angels. Cherubim is in the highest hierarchy of angels along with Seraphim and Throne.
As a boss[edit]
Notes[edit]
- ↑ Kelvena's name is misspelled in-game as Kelvina in the English localization battle files.
Trivia[edit]
- Out of the four Elements, Kelvena is the only one that's completely human.
