Karen Wong is a character in Xenogears. She is Fei's mother.

Appearance and Personality

Karen has hip-length black hair and black eyes. For unknown reasons, her hair remains black after being possessed by Miang.

Originally she was a kind and loving mother for Fei. However when Miang awoke inside her, Karen's personality completely changed and she cruelly subjected her son to experiments.

Story arc

Karen was the wife of Khan Wong and mother of Fei. She was originally from the Aquvy area, belonging to the Nisan parish in that area. Through an unknown incident influenced by the Ethos, she met Khan, who was at the time a military commander in Shevat. The two married and she later gave birth to Fei while living there.

When Fei was 4, Karen became the 997th Miang. Realizing that her child was The Contact, she got in contact with Krelian and started subjecting her son to horrific experiments. These events caused the emergence of the Id personality in Fei. She eventually summoned Grahf, who desired to merge with Fei, the reincarnation of his original body. Fei's power went out of control and at the last minute, she overrode Miang's programming and threw herself in the way of a blast that was about to kill him. She collapsed onto her son, dying of her injuries.

• Karen's name is a reference to Karen Horney, a German psychoanalyst.
• In Japanese, Karen is voiced by Michiko Neya, who also voices Emeralda, Alice, and Tyrea in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected.
