Jinkei (ジンケイ) is a recurring side character in Xenosaga I & II. He primarily appears to give tutorials on Formations to the player.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Jinkei doesn't have character portraits, so his appearance can only be inferred from his sprites. He appears to be an older man with long, gray hair and a mustache. His sprite is always in a slouched position, with his arms behind his back. He's typically seen wearing a light green robe and red shoes.

Story[edit]
Xenosaga I & II[edit]
Jinkei appears throughout the game through holographic communication separate from the main narrative. Sometimes he will make cheeky comments about where the characters are at the time he appears. On his first appearance, he mentions that it was none other than Miyuki Itsumi who told him to explain Formations to the player.
Lore[edit]
- The Xenosaga I & II official website[1] refers to Jinkei as "Grandpa Jinkei". It's unknown if this implies a familial connection to Miyuki. It could just refer to his old age.

As a boss[edit]

Jinkei can be fought as a bonus challenge boss after the player begins Chapter 19 and unlocks free travel to Second Miltia.
