Hans is a character from Xenogears.
Appearance and Personality[edit]
Hans is a demi-human with an appearance similar to a dolphin. He looks similar to Franz, a demi-human who works aboard the Yggdrasil, and the two share the same official character artwork in Perfect Works. Within the game, Hans does not have a character portrait.
He is a loyal individual, and while he at times disagrees with the decisions of the Captain, always follows his orders.
Story arc[edit]
Hans is the first mate of the Thames, a giant docking craft that performs salvage operations in the Aquvy region. He has worked with the Captain since they were pirates in their youth. He can often be found assisting the Captain or handling the management of the Thames when the Captain is busy. Hans is married to a fellow Dolphin demi-human Anna. She was saved by the Thames during a Reaper attack and lost her first husband. They got into a relationship after this and got married, making Hans a father to Anna's son, Lance, though he doesn't seem to like Hans very much.
Hans survives the destruction of the Thames and afterward makes his home in the Snowfield Hideout with his family. While he mourns the supposed death of the Captain, the two are reunited when the Captain reveals that he survived the Thames' destruction.
