Ether Def Down is a gem effect in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. It grants a percentage chance that the user's auto-attack will inflict Ether Def Down on the target for 10 seconds.

Overview

Even with the weakest gems, Ether Def Down will eventually trigger and cause the victim to take increased damage for a short time. This is not quite as good as its brother Phys Def Down for long fights, as auto-attacks are physical, but it is instead an opening for using a bunch of ether attacks.

Enemy drops

The strength of crystals and cylinders dropped by enemies is random within limits. The first attribute is usually from 20% to 30%, but crystals from bosses and unique monsters are stronger, and are from 80% to 90% instead. There is also a 25% chance to get a better crystal, which ranges from 32% to 40% normally, or 92% to 99% for bosses and uniques. If there is a second attribute, its possible range is equal to half the range of the first attribute (for example, if the first attribute's range is 20%-30%, the second's will be 10%-15%).
