The Encephalon is visited as an area in Xenosaga Episode I - Der Wille zur Macht. By entering it the party is brought to a recreation of Old Miltia.
Story[edit]
When the Kukai Foundation is framed by the U-TIC Organization for the destruction of the Woglinde, the party dives into the Encephalon in an attempt to recover records maintained by KOS-MOS proving their innocence. By entering the Encephalon, the party is brought to Old Miltia from 14 years before, during the Miltian Conflict. Ziggy, Jr. and MOMO are brought to the streets of the city where they must fight off U-TIC Soldiers and eventually see Joachim Mizrahi atop Labyrinthos before he falls off to his death. Meanwhile Shion and chaos are brought to a playground where Shion played as a child while her mother was held in the hospital there. The two of them speak to Nephilim, then make their way through the woods nearby. Everyone meets up at a church where they meet the Realian Febronia and then see the Acute Neurosis Treatment Facility where Shion's mother was being held. Jr. also sees Albedo laughing maniacally. After defeating the gnosis Tiamat, they see a vision of Febronia with her sisters Cecily and Cathe and KOS-MOS firing upon Miltia. They eventually make their way to KOS-MOS, being held on a crucifix-shaped stone and recover the information from her necessary to clear themselves.
