The Dämmerung is a ship in the Xenosaga series. It is a free-orbiting colony used by Vector Industries and serves as the company's headquarters.

Description[edit]

The Dämmerung is a giant free orbiting colony and ship. It acts as the headquarters for Vector Industries and is the residence of Wilhelm. It is approximately 1,000 kilometers in size. It includes the core branches of Vector as well as its subsidiary organizations. Shion also has living quarters on it. While classified as a colony, the Dämmerung has significant mobility and firepower, even more so than the battleships owned by the military.

Story[edit]

Episode I[edit]

The Dämmerung appears in Episode I when the Gnosis attack the Kukai Foundation. Using its powerful weapon, the Rhine Maiden in coordination with three allied ships, it is able to destroy a massive amount of Gnosis.

Episode II[edit]

Shion and Allen return to the Dämmerung in Episode II, but Shion soon has a desire to leave when she is visited by Nephilim and Febronia, who ask her to free Febronia's sisters on Old Miltia. Shion steals the craft Dinah, with Allen coming along with her.

Episode III[edit]

At the climax of the game, the Dämmerung abruptly loses power, due to its power generator, Joshua disappearing and becomes dead in space. Miyuki Itsumi and Togashi Yukihira are shock how their reactor "disappeared" as they try to restore power. After the loss of the U.M.N. and the planetary disappearances, the Dämmerung finds the Elsa free floating in space and rescues them. By then, the Dämmerung is possibly the last center of civilization in the universe as the majority of the surviving party members and major characters are onboard the Dämmerung in the ending (although there's a chance that Second Miltia is spared as suggested in a transmission from Helmer).

A free orbiting colony, it also functions as Vector's headquarters. However, its 1000km size makes it more of an artificial planet rather than a colony.

All the core branches of Vector and its subsidiary corporations are located here, including the First R&D Division and Shion's living quarters.

Free-orbiting colony and the base of Vector Industries.

A free-orbiting colony that serves as Vector Industries' main headquarters. It is so large (1000 kilometers in length) that it is almost like an artificial planet.

The nerve center of the entire group and its affiliated businesses is gathered on this colony; Shion's living quarters, as well as the First R&D Division where she was stationed, were also here. The office where Vector CEO Wilhelm converses with the Testaments is laid out in the upper block of the Dämmerung.

The Dämmerung is categorized as a colony, but its mobility and firepower far outclasses even the military's large battleships. When the Kukai Foundation was in danger after being surrounded by Gnosis, it appeared before Shion with three allied ships. With those ships, it launched the powerful Rhine Maiden, a particularly noteworthy part of its power.

The music of Wagner is always playing in Wilhelm's office. That combined with the name "Rhine Maiden," gives one a good idea of his tastes.

Xenosaga I & II
