Consul Q is an antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He is a member of the Consuls and is in charge of Colony 30.

Appearance and personality

As with most of the Consuls, Q wears the standard red armor and black cape. Q also wears a blocky helmet with three straight, vertical ridges on the forehead with an additional ridge below them that resembles a nose. He has amber eyes. In his Moebius form, Q takes the form of a thin humanoid monster with a long, spiky tail and a spade-shaped head with a tall crown of ridges like those on his helmet. Q lacks the bared teeth possessed by many Moebius, instead having what appears to be a blocky bill. Additionally, the ring that appears around most other Moebius' waists is positioned over his head, causing it to resemble a halo.

Pompous and caviling, Q prioritizes winning above all else. He's known for gloating and taunting his enemies, and seems to enjoy getting under people's skin. Q sees soldiers as "tools," and nothing upsets him more than being disrespected and disobeyed. He also hates being interrupted. Q can be very impatient, as demonstrated when he urges Valdi to finish up the Incomplete Siege-Lev and ultimately uses it to attack the party in its unfinished state. He also demonstrates cruelty when he assaults Valdi over his desire to scrap the Siege-Lev, hijacks it, and uses it to destroy Mechafriend. Q seems to have a vested interest in Levnises, given that he works with them in both of the quests he appears in. He's resourceful and seems to enjoy pulling off elaborate schemes, such as when he targets a colony's water supply with the expectation that it will spur "the most vicious raids."

Story Arc

The Kind Right Hand

Q is the main antagonist of Valdi's Hero quest, the The Kind Right Hand. Q makes his appearance after Valdi finishes constructing Mechafriend. He blackmails Valdi into returning to Colony 30 finishing the ultimate levnis. When Valdi decides to destroy it, Q assaults him and takes control of the unfinished Levnis and attack him. Mechafriend and the party arrive to save him. Annoyed by Mechafriend, he stomps him before attacking the party but is defeated.

Inescapable Past

Q is also the main antagonist of Alexandria's Ascension Quest, Inescapable Past. He plans to lure Alexandria to the Old Kana Battlefield. To this end he reprograms one of Valdi's Levnises "Robobuddy" to gather poisonous materials to poison Colony 30's water supply. His plan works and he manages to corner the party near a cliff and isolates Alexandria who then to proceeds to poison her with a modified Levnis, paralyzing her. Q reveals that Alexandria assassinated Colony Iota's previous commander, via poisoning, via from his colleague, E. However, Alexandria breaks free and attacks him just as he was transforms into his Moebius form who uses his modified Levnises to corner her, but the party saves her and the seven fights Q. During the battle, he manages to shove Alexandria off a cliff, only for Noah to save her. Seeing it as a blindspot, Q move towards the two to finish them off, only for Lanz to distract him, giving Noah enough time to pull Alexandria to safety before using Lucky Seven to slice through his core, killing him instantly. Valdi is surprised when he learns that Q was responsible for the recent incident.
