Aionios
Aionios (アイオニオン, Aionion) is the world of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed. Aionios is home to two nations, Keves and Agnus, which are embroiled in a war.
Story[edit]
Prelude[edit]
In the distant past, there was a single world that was split apart into the world of the Bionis and the world of Alrest when Klaus activated the Conduit during the Saviorite rebels' attack on the First Low Orbit Station. Each world going their separate ways, not knowing of each other. Years after Klaus's death, both worlds learn that they are on a collision course with each other and will annihilate in an event known as the Intersection. To prepare for that day, both worlds collaborated in the construction of an ark called Origin which would recreate the worlds and their inhabitants in the event of the Intersection, designed by a certain Nopon engineer and using Ontos's core as a key component. However, as the two worlds were to intersect, the collective wills that were assimilated into Origin had their fears coalesced into Z, the leader and original form of Moebius. Representing the collective wills of both worlds, Z used Origin to create a new world from the data of the original two, named Aionios, to keep both worlds in a state of frozen time. Because Aionios is created from the opposing matters of both worlds, it is wrought with annihilation events, ever slowly creeping towards its inevitable decay.
Future Redeemed[edit]
Roughly 10 years before the events of Future Redeemed, the Ontos core went rogue, without Logos or Pneuma to guide it, it now desires to destroy Aionios and move on to a new world. Shulk, Rex, and Z confronts Ontos's newest instantiation, Alpha, but was unable to defeat him. When Matthew and the party traverse the Cent-Omnia Region of Aionios to confront Alpha and manages to defeat him, but allowed Moebius to regain control of Origin who then plunges it into the Great Sea, destroying the Cent-Omnia Region.

- The word "Aionios" is derived from the Ancient Greek αἰώνιος, meaning (among other things) "eternal" - an etymology mentioned in-game. This word is also the source of the name Aion in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
