The Affinity Goals menu

Affinity is a mechanic in Future Redeemed. Certain actions are considered Affinity Goals, and completing them grants the party Affinity Points (AP) which they may spend to improve their capabilities in combat.

Affinity Goals[edit]

Vermillion Woods' Affinity Goals

Affinity Goals and their progress may be seen in the menu (under the option "Affinity Goals"). They are divided into six categories, listed below.

Exploration[edit]

Exploration goals entail finding and interacting with entities in the overworld. This includes:

Exploration goals are divided by region, with each region having its own exploration list. These lists can be seen when viewing the map in the menu. A goal consists of finding/interacting with all entities of a certain category in a certain region; for example, there exists a goal for "find all eight Locations in Vermilion Woods". Finding only several of the eight does not count towards map progress and does not award Affinity Points.

Battle Missions[edit]

Battle Missions entail fulfilling requirements related to defeating enemies:

The list of Battle Missions is viewable alongside the Exploration goals in the menu's map.

Affinity Scenes[edit]

Each Affinity Scene counts as an Affinity Goal. Like the previous two, these are listed in the menu's map, organised by region.

Community[edit]

Adding people to the Community counts as an Affinity Goal, as does raising their Community affinity. The list of Community members and the requirements for raising their affinity are also accessible via the main menu.

Enemypaedia[edit]

Each enemy, including unique monsters, is listed in the Enemypaedia. Defeating an enemy a certain number of times will result in that enemy being ticked in the enemypaedia, and count as an Affinity Goal.

Collectopaedia[edit]

Similarly, each collectible (not counting enemy drops) is listed in the Collectopaedia, and must be collected a certain number of times to count towards an Affinity Goal.

Affinity Points and Affinity Growth charts[edit]

Matthew's starting Affinity Growth chart

Affinity Points are earnt by completing Affinity Goals, and are used to purchase nodes on each directly-controllable character's Affinity Growth chart. These are split into three sections: initially only the first is unlocked on every applicable character, and the other two must be unlocked by acquiring and using Affinity Growth Unlock Kits.

In all cases, Affinity Growth charts contain the following nodes.

  • The first section contains:
    • Three nodes which upgrade the character's Primary Arts.
    • Two nodes which unlock the two non-default Ouroboros Powers.
    • Two nodes for learning standard (upgradeable) Skills.
    • A node for learning an Initiative Effect, a special Skill which gives a benefit when starting a battle with an attack to a certain side of the enemy.
    • Two nodes which increase stats.
  • The second section contains:
    • Three nodes for a second upgrade of the character's Primary Arts.
    • Three nodes for upgrading the Ouroboros Powers.
    • A node for upgrading the Talent Art.
    • Two nodes for unlocking the last two upgradeable Skills.
    • An upgrade for each upgradeable Skill.
    • A node which enables the canceling of Arts into Arts, and one which increases TP at the start of a Chain Attack by 5.
  • The third section contains:
    • Three nodes for a second upgrade of the Ouroboros Powers.
    • A second Talent Art upgrade.
    • A second upgrade for all upgradeable Skills.
    • Several non-upgradeable Skills, some of which are generic stat increases, and others of which are more specific.

Besides some nodes requiring the usage of Affinity Growth Unlock Kits, the order in which nodes are unlocked is also restricted in that an Art or Skill must be unlocked before it is upgraded, and the first upgrade must be obtained before the second.
