Story[edit]

While not directly mentioned, their excavation is briefly brought up during Mòrag's report to Emperor Niall in Chapter 4. Their first appearance, however, is at the very beginning of Chapter 5. Torna discovers that Aeshma are the focus of Mor Ardain's excavation in Temperantia. Recognizing the Titan weapons, Jin decides to travel to Temperantia alone, in order to buy the organization some time.

Aeshma are seen some time later, in parallel to the party's arrival on Fonsett Island, during an inspection of the excavation site by Senator Roderich. There, the senator learns of the modifications the Ardainians made to the Titan weapon and inquires about possible security concerns due to an explosion that happened three months prior. An Ardainian captain reassures him that, were the weapon to explode, it would do so in enemy territory.

While the party rests in Indol after meeting Praetor Amalthus, Jin takes advantage of the night to take control of one of the dig site's Aeshma, starting to move toward Uraya's side of the buffer zone. Once in view of the Urayan soldiers and their ships guarding the border, Jin opens fire, annihilating them.

After reaching Temperantia, and arriving at its Central Plain, the party witness the destruction brought by Aeshma, shortly before the Titan opens fire on their location, while they remain unharmed from the attack, the Urayan army flees under the weapon's constant fire.

With Mòrag's insight about the Titan weapon, the party is able to formulate a plan to stop it without causing an explosion that could wipe the entire area off the map. With Fan la Norne's help, they are able to keep Aeshma in place and board the Titan, with the aim of cutting off its power by destroying its Power Lines. Once done, the Titan stops in its tracks and the party is confronted by Jin.

After Jin kills Fan la Norne, and he himself suddenly collapses, Akhos arrives on the scene to rescue Torna's leader. He is able to flee with the reactivation of Aeshma's Core, which is running off of the little energy remaining inside the Titan's core. After dealing with its defense core, the party is finally able to deactivate the weapon.
